Reminiscences of the Rockland area; by Eunice Bambary Ayres, with Grace Bambary Walker; combined interviews, 1999-2002, by Mary Laird Silvia [typescript].

The memoir consists of questions and responses edited by Mrs. Silvia from interviews conducted with Eunice and her sister Grace Bambary Walker between 1999 andd 2002. The tapes of the interviews have not been made public. Mrs. Ayres recalls her family history, neighbors, and the routines of everyday life in Rockland, an old mill village that was later surrounded by du Pont family estates. The volume includes maps of the Rockland area showing buildings and occupants and portraits of the Bambary sisters.

Alfred I. du Pont was the eldest son of E. I. du Pont (1829-1877). He joined the family gunpowder firm in 1884, after attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In the 1902 reorganization, he became co-owner and general manager. As a result of a family quarrel, he left the firm in 1916 and eventually built his own banking and real estate empire in Florida.
